Our Counselling Services
|Deciding to pursue counselling and beginning the process is a big decision. It is important to find someone who has the appropriate qualifications as well as with whom you feel comfortable. Our experienced and dedicated counsellors are passionate about the work that they do, and are here to listen. They include certified counsellors, marriage and family therapists, and registered social workers, and all are members in good standing with their respective professional associations.
Borealis Counselling Services offers individual, couple and family counselling to address a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, anger, grief, marital and relationship problems, separation/divorce, family violence, trauma, difficulties with co-workers or supervisors, feeling overwhelmed due to work demands, workplace safety concerns and/or critical incidents, as well as struggles with addiction (self and/or family member).
While an important purpose of counselling and therapy is to help people resolve problems such as those listed above, the aim of professional counselling and therapy also goes beyond this with the aim of enriching personal, family and professional roles, which in turn, will enhance our contributions at home, at work, and within the larger community.
Appointments to deal with issues of an urgent nature can be booked within 24 hours. Generally, most appointments can be made within 48-72 hours.
There are two primary ways that you can access counselling services:
Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
EFAP is employer-sponsored short-term counselling. You may be covered through your workplace benefits to access our services at no cost to you. Please contact our office for more information or refer to the Employee Family Assistance Program Services tab.
Fee for Service Counselling.
Fee for service counselling is available for individuals, or employers, who do not have an Employee and Family Assistance Program through us. Fee for service counselling means that you pay a fee based on affordable rates. If you have an extended health care plan, it is recommended that you contact your provider regarding the requirements of counsellor qualifications for your coverage. Please contact our office for more information.
